In the female human body, the two most common hormones are progesterone and estrogen. Both, together, play a pivotal role in the female’s body ability to reproduce. In fact, estrogen is responsible for the release of eggs whereas the progesterone focuses more on the implantation of the eggs.
Now, when a female ages, naturally, the human body stops generating eggs. As this happens, the estrogen levels follow suit, resulting in a hormonal imbalance. Many times, this happens to women in their 40s; however, there are many different factors that can alter this. When estrogen levels in the human body begin to decrease, this is when females start to experience hot flashes and other related symptoms.
At New You Wellness Center, we have a few different hormone replacement therapy options for women:
- Estrogen-Only Hormone Replacement Therapy: This is strictly for women who have undergone a hysterectomy, where the body no longer needs progesterone.
- Cyclical Hormone Therapy: This type of hormone therapy is typically suggested for women that are concurrently menstruating. This type of HRT includes both estrogen and progesterone; however, they are taken on a cyclical basis.
- Continuous Hormone Therapy: When a woman is done with menopause, continuous hormone therapy is often the prescribed treatment. This includes both types of female hormones – and is taken over time.
- Local Estrogen: This is typically used for women that are experiencing vaginal dryness and/or irritations.
- Testosterone Replacement Therapy.
PROCEDURE AND EXPECTATIONS
We understand that undergoing a medical procedure or treatment can be quite intimidating or scary. In efforts to ease the process, here is some information on what you can anticipate and expect from this procedure.
When a patient first comes into New Wellness Center inquiring about our hormone replacement therapy services, Our medical staff will perform different tests to gauge an individual’s hormonal balances. These tests may include a comprehensive physical exam, review of medical and family history, blood test, X-Ray, MRI, thyroid scan, sperm count, or even an ultrasound. The testing performed will truly depend upon each individual and the circumstances.
From here, our hormone replacement therapy specialists will take the time to evaluate and assess the results from the testing. In this, New You Wellness Center will work directly with you to create a custom hormone therapy treatment plan to help restore hormonal balances. Throughout the entire process, patients are highly encouraged to ask any questions they might have.
